My wife and I recently hired Sage Landscapes to level our backyard, build two retaining walls, extend our patio, add a grill area, install a sprinkler system, and lay sod. From the start, Matt was incredibly responsive—he quickly scheduled a site walk to learn more about our vision. He offered helpful suggestions to enhance our ideas while always respecting what we wanted. Not once did he try to upsell us. They provided a fair and honest quote, and the entire project was completed well ahead of the two-week timeline they originally estimated. FANTASTIC. A+++++++ Wow, beautiful! What a wonderful backyard. We had such an ambitious project to build a patio, yoga deck, swinging couches, and water feature. Matt and Kate immediately understood the vision and were building on it. The execution was remarkable. The team worked 10 hour days 6 days a week and were extremely hard working with excellent craftsmanship. I connected and received quotes with several other contractors and agencies for landscape bids before choosing Sage Landscapes. It was clear Sage Landscapes with Matt and Kate was the only company capable of our project on time and on budget, and they surely did amazing work. Now, everyday in our backyard feels like vacation!

From my first phone call and email communication about the project, their quick turnaround on the the bid, to scheduling and then completion was so easy. They did a beautiful job! Today Sage Landscaping completed our front yard. My house had a total transformation. No longer an ugly duckling. You all know that story. I absolutely cried happy tears. My little house in Southeast Portland looks like $1 million. What a dream. Matt Bowman and his crew are super landscapers and gardeners! I have had them weekly now over a year and couldn't be happier. I love Matt's ideas. He is so knowledgeable about all the plants and shrubs and knows just how to treat everything and when to do it. I highly recommend Sage Landscapes!
We hired Sage Landscapes to create a boulder retaining wall and gravel pad for parking between the road and our front lawn. It looks beautiful, we're really happy with the result. The price was reasonable and they were fast (this took 2 work days). It was great working with Kate to discuss what we should do for our yard and house and we'll definitely be hiring Sage again when we have other landscaping projects that need to be done in the future.
GREAT experience. I was referred to Matt at Sage Landscapes by Portland Rock and Landscape. I had started an ambitious quarantine project of re-doing my front yard with a winding paver path. We got about 70% of the way through the path before realizing we were over our skis and needed a professional to finish the job with a flourish. Matt called back promptly and made a day work within my short notice timeline (within a week) and came out on time with 2 guys and spent the whole day finishing the path. It looked absolutely incredible and it was not an easy thing to just pick up where we left off. They re-did the parts we did poorly and left us with just a really polished, professional looking end product. I love the path and get compliments constantly. Very reasonably priced in my opinion. He even upgraded the equipment to something that would leave less dust and did not charge me, even though I chose the cheaper option to begin with - this didn't go unnoticed and frankly was refreshing to work with a company that didn't try and gouge you at every turn possible.
Matt and his crew were amazing! They communicated well, showed up on time, and completely transformed my neglected yard. We are so appreciative of the help and highly recommend!

Matt and his hardworking team did an excellent job re-landscaping my front and back yards. Matt is knowledgable, thoughtful, and has a great eye for design and how everything needed to look when completed. He (along with the designer I hired) transformed my yard into exactly what I had envisioned years ago. Matt and his team were also delightful and easy to work with. The bid he provided was very reasonable and fair. I'd rehire them in a heartbeat.

I had 4 different landscaping companies quote my project and not only did Matt best understand what I was hoping to accomplish with the design- but he also came up with impactful cost savings options to help me stay within budget. My backyard is complete and exceeded my expectations (excellent quality and beautiful design)- the entire Sage team was A++, for sure would recommend them for any project!
I was very impressed with the quality of the work done by Sage Landscapes. They built a basalt wall and steps for me, in addition to extending my patio and vibrating poly sand into the joints to prevent future weeds. The result was beautiful and the wall was artistically done. Thank you, Matt!

Matt and Kate showed up on time, worked cheerfully in the inevitable October rain, finished in a timely fashion, and cleaned up thoroughly. Their plan for the front yard was simplified, which is what I wanted, but also with a bit of drama. I intend to hire them again soon.

Matt Bowman of Sage Landscapes has completed several projects for us this past year and we have been very pleased with all of them; weekly lawn maintenance, installing a new irrigation system, planting our blueberries and creating “rabbit proof” fencing, among other items. In addition, he structurally pruned several shrubs, which transformed them into beautiful, healthy plants again. We had an excellent experience with Matt and his team. We contacted them to help us install a 30 foot winding flagstone pathway from the back of the house to our back and front gates. They installed the flagstone in just the style we wanted, with a natural but professional look and it looks wonderful. It has been a few months now since they installed it, and every time I walk on my new path way it beings me joy. Matt was easy to talk to over the phone about details and gave us a great price, and Kate his assistant was very professional with scheduling. Also, not only did Matt did a great job in laying the flagstone, he also knew what looked right and what didn’t. Juan, Matt’s helper, was so nice to talk to and he explained to me the process of laying the path as well. Matt and Juan were fun guys to talk to, especially in Spanish! We’ve been slowly but surely improving our front yard, and it has been difficult finding help for projects we didn’t want to tackle ourselves. Absolutely the best landscape, construction company in the Portland metro area! We had our driveway done in cobblestone pavers. Wow, it's beautiful! The crew also did the front and back yard, the side yard, and our back property. Steps put in on both sides of the house to access the back of the property. The crew made our unusable property usable! I didn't think we could ever obtain it! The outdoor fireplace is a work of art, all natural stone, to match the stone patio and steps leading down to the fireplace. Matt, the owner, and Kate, the designer, listened, and they heard us on the vision we wanted. I couldn't have asked for anything better. Matt and his crew were amazing, fast, efficient, and respectful. Kate picked out the best plants and designed our vision of our yard. We asked for more native plants and different variations of colors throughout the seasons. They nailed it perfectly. All I can say is this company is 100% calling. Their work is impeccable! I can't wait to work with them again! Thank you, Matt, Kate, and crew.

I had Sage landscapes take care of both my front and backyard as well as install a fence and gate and a pad for a shed. They also installed bark chips and river rocks. The work they did was exceptional. They were professional and did quality work. So excited to see the finished product. Prices were reasonable and Matt was great to work with.

Amazing product/company! We used Safe Landscapes over the Summer for a major backyard project. Matt and crew took our vision and gave us exactly what we hoped for and more. Along the way we had a few options and requests pop up and they were very flexible and helpful along the way with any changes that needed to happen. We will definitely be using them again when the time comes for our next project.

Beautiful work! And under adverse circumstances as they did their project at a time when the water and electricity happened to be shut off. They never complained or asked to reschedule. Made do and brought there own water to mix concrete for the fence posts. Will be using them again!
Sage landscapes just redid our front landscaping in Oregon city. I would recommend them for anyone planning a landscape construction project. They did our sod, plant design, and grading work and were a joy to work with! They communicated very well, were highly responsive and the customer service was top notch! I’m truly happy with the work done by Sage Landscapes, Matt Bowman and his crew. From the initial phone call to set up an on site estimate, to the final walk through of the completed project, it was all a seamless, pleasant experience. They removed my backyard lawn and installed synthetic pet turf, removed overgrown ferns and installed a shade garden, reworked the dry creek rockery, removed the parking strip grass installing river rock and plants, retrofitted the drip system and applied mulch in all the planting beds. They were always on time, respectful of my property and did a thorough clean up once completed. Matt was easy to communicate with and always responsive. I would highly recommend Sage Landscapes!
