Side yards get ignored a lot. They're narrow, awkward, and usually just dead space between the house and the fence. But with the right plan, they can actually add real function - and this one is a good example of that.

We came in with a full scope: paver installation through the side yard, a retaining wall to clean up the grade, and privacy shrubs to give the space some separation from the neighbors. The paver pattern is tight and well-leveled throughout - that kind of consistency doesn't happen by accident. Our crew was checking grade the whole way through to make sure nothing was off.

The retaining wall cap detail is one of those things that separates a polished job from a rough one. Sharp corners, clean lines, no slop. When you get that close and the work still looks good, you know it was done right. We pressure washed the finished surface before wrapping up so the homeowner could see exactly what they were getting - no construction dust, no residue.

On the landscaping side, the privacy shrubs we planted along the border are already doing their job visually. Paired with fresh dark mulch and a curved paver border, the whole bed looks intentional and finished. That's the goal - hardscape and landscaping that work together, not like two separate things bolted onto the same yard.

That's what we're always going after with our paver patio and residential landscaping work. A space that actually gets used, looks good from the street, and holds up over time. A neglected side yard can become one of the more useful parts of a property - it just takes the right approach.
